Belly Dance Showcase & Fundraiser

Cost: $25 for each workshop; $7 for adults and $5 for children for the showcase Join Rebellyon Dance Troupe and Cornerstone Center for the Arts on Saturday, December 6th, for the Belly Dance Showcase and Fundraiser. A fabulous line up of belly dancers, including Cornerstone instructors and students, will showcase their skills to raise funds for the Arts Program at Cornerstone. This event is being hosted by Jenny Smithson and Rebellyon Dance Troupe in support of Cornerstone.
The fundraiser kicks off with two belly dance workshops during the day taught by Jenny Smithson and Jeana Jorgensen.
Workshop #1 - 10:00 am to 12:00 pm will be instructed by Jenny Smithson and will focus on Dubstep Belly Dance Fusion. You asked for it! Rebellyon will bring you fun and fierce belly dance choreography to Dubstep Music. Previous belly dance experience required. Workshop #2 - 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm: “How Slow Can You Go: Slow ATS Movement Vocabulary” will be instructed by Jeana Jorgensen and will explore American Tribal Style® and Slow Movement Vocabulary. This workshop will teach you the basics of ATS slow moves, from elegant hand floreos to slinky taxeems, and bodywaves. Then we’ll put it all together using the improvisational structure of ATS. Whether you want to learn more about the aesthetics of ATS to incorporate in your solo dancing, or you want to have fun dancing with others, this workshop is for you! Workshops are $25 each. Registration is available online at www.cornerstonearts.org/education. Workshops will take place at Cornerstone Center for the Arts in the dance studios.
The Belly Dance Showcase and Fundraiser will take place at Cornerstone Center for the Arts in the Colonnade Room located on the 1st floor. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the show begins at 6:00 pm. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children at the door.
In addition to the entertainment, the event will feature a raffle with donations from local businesses as well as belly dancing costumes and accessories.
Cornerstone Center for the Arts is a non-profit community arts organization in downtown Muncie whose mission is to nurture community connections by providing opportunities for creative expression, educational programs, and events in a historic setting. All proceeds from the event will benefit Cornerstone’s Arts Programs.

Celebration will include: dance performances, a student art gallery, youth drama performance, private lesson recital, crafts, light refreshments, and a special visit from Santa!
The event is free and open to the public and is a great opportunity to learn more about the classes offered through the Cornerstone Arts Program. Information and registration for Spring 2015 classes will be available.

The Muncie Symphony Orchestra will present a nationally acclaimed musical theater show, Tchaikovsky Discovers America, in a special concert for school groups. The program will feature an all-Tchaikovsky program, interwoven with an exciting true story of Tchaikovsky's trip to America, presented by the Classical Kids Music Education actors from Chicago. It's a great introduction to the classics, especially for 4th and 5th graders.

Cost: $10 per person BelladonnaTroupe Rebellyon presents: Belladonna Baroness of Blade Gala Show at Cornerstone Center for the Arts (2nd floor Heritage Room).
Belladonna is an international performer and instructor out of Washington DC. She is best known as a pioneer of modern sword dancing, and for her theatrical performances, creative concepts and her ability to break down and teach complex subject matter.
She has been a guest performer with international superstars such as Amanda Palmer, Beats Antique, Corvus Corax, the Bellydance Super Stars and the Indigo. She has also had the honor of being a featured instructor at national and international festivals such as Tribal Fest, Art of the Belly, Rakkasah Spring Caravan, Tribal Alchemy, Elevation, Awakening Persephone, 3rd Coast Tribal, Gothla UK, FesTribal de Quebec as well as many private events, medieval events, cultural events and parties.
She is the creative director and producer of the annual Raven’s Night Soiree’, the Vixen Variety Show and co producer of the Monthly DCTribal cafe. She also is the director of three student troupes, BellaTrix, DashKhaleen and Khalasar. Professionally Belladonna is a skilled soloist, as well as one half of the dynamic duo Skella and the director of her most recent venture Kivahalla.
Other featured performances from Celeste, Ursula, Alima, Troupe Taleeba, Madlen, Jussenya, Tamar Sayeeda, and of course Muncie's own Rebellyon.
Tickets available at the door $10 per person. Children 12 and under FREE!

Historic Beech Grove Cemetery Tour

Cost: $7 in advance at Refresh and cemetery office. Children under 10 free when accompanied by an adult October 10th is the Old West End Neighborhood Association's Historic Cemetery Tour at Beech Grove Cemetery from 3:30-7:30pm.
Learn more about the history of Beech Grove Cemetery, and hear about interesting residents from Muncie's past!
Each year, the tour features different historical figures and a new route.
Local historians, will take you on a walking tour of the Old Section/Circle of the cemetery. Visitors may view historic artifacts from Minnetrista's Special Collections in the Chapel and enjoy refreshments by the fountain before or after the tour.
Tickets are $7 and available in advance Refresh downtown (312 E Main St) or at the Beech Grove cemetery office (1400 W Kilgore Ave). Tours are limited to 20 persons at a time and generally leave every half hour. Children under 10 are free when accompanied by an adult. Tour may require walking on uneven ground. Partners include: Minnetrista, Parson Mortuary, Covertek, Refresh, Teenworks.

15 stories of those who have faced Cancer in East Central Indiana, 15 writers who carried their stories, and 15 actors who will bring the stories to life on stage. Join The Facing Project, Little Red Door Cancer Services of East Central Indiana, and the Ingelhart Scholars from Ball State University as the community comes together to celebrate stories of survival.
This theatrical production is FREE and open to the public. All attendees will receive a copy of the book: "Facing Cancer in East Central Indiana."

Commemorating Indiana’s bicentennial, Masterworks Chorale presents a world premiere musical event celebrating Muncie as:
Middletown, USA
7:30 p.m., Saturday May 14, 2016, at Muncie Central High School, 801 N. Walnut St., Muncie, IN 47305.
For this occasion, Masterworks Chorale commissioned composer Marjorie Rusche to write a new cantata for chorus and orchestra.
Middletown Chronicles: The Making of Middletown, America, gives musical voice to native voices of Muncie’s past and present: words drawn from letters, diaries, books and interviews of Muncie residents.
The audience will experience Muncie as Middletown through music, spoken words, and visual images provided by The Center for Middletown Studies and the Archives and Special Collections, Ball State University Libraries.
Masterworks Chorale has also partnered with Motivate Our Minds to share the Middletown history and experience with a group of local students. On May 14 these 4th and 5th graders will exhibit their own art in response to their perceptions of Middletown.
In order to ensure that the “Middletown USA” event is accessible to all members of our community, tickets are free.
