Printer Jam is a student organized event that started as a living room print show and has evolved into an exciting "JAM" in the form of a downtown Muncie Arts event involving a collaboration of over 33 different printmakers, poets and musicians.

Dr. Scott Shields, associate director and curator of the Crocker Art Museum in Sacremento, will explore the artist's life and Richard Diebenkorn: Beginnings, 1942-1955, the spring Special Exhibition at DOMA. A reception begins at 5pm followed by the lecture at 6pm. Guests will have the opportunity for a special viewing of the exhibition. This event is made possible by the support of the Edmund F. Petty Memorial Fund. Event is free and open to the public.

Professional Art Practice Pancake Extravaganza

Nick Witten and Danielle Joy Graves host a professional art practice seminar at PlySpace.
PlySpace Resident Artists Danielle Joy Graves and Nick Witten invite high school and foundation-level college student artists to join them for a free day-long workshop on professional practice for artists and contemporary art issues. The workshop will take place on Saturday, April 28th, starting at 10:00 AM.

The workshop will be geared toward students looking to pursue a career in fine art. Through discussions, presentations, and demonstrations, participants will be introduced to resume building, careers and alternative jobs in the art world, and contemporary art practice. A pancake breakfast will be provided (gluten and dairy free).
In the afternoon, students are also invited to join a group critique of participant's artwork. Students will learn how to photograph their work for a professional portfolio, and the photographic documentation taken during the workshop will be published online for participants to use for future applications and websites. Nick and Danielle will also publish documentation of each critique online so students will be able to use that credential on their resumes.
The event is free and open to any students interested in art practice. Students are encouraged to bring a few pieces of work for the group critique and to have photographed during the demonstration. Participants are welcome to attend the entire day, or just the workshop they find most interesting. Breakfast is provided but please bring your own lunch.Danielle Joy Graves and Nick Witten are Indianapolis-based artists, collaborative partners, and co-curators of Sugar Space Gallery, a contemporary art gallery focused on emerging artists. Nick holds an MFA in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA in Sculpture from Herron School of Art and Design. He is an Adjunct Instructor at Herron and works with Big Car Collaborative. Danielle holds a BFA in Illustration from Herron School of Art and Design. She works as a professional artist. They are both current resident artists at PlySpace through the end of April.

Barbara L. McAneny, MD, aboard-certified medical oncologist/hematologist from Albuquerque, NM, was elected president-elect of the American Medical Association in June 2017. Dr. McAneny has served on the AMA Board of Trustees since 2010, including as its chair in 2015-2016.
The discussion will be followed by a reception and concert at Elm Street Brewing Company, featuring John C. Peterson, Phil Dunn, and friends.

PlySpace Resident Fellow, artist Dave Rowe, will hold an open studio at Madjax on Friday, July 13th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. PlySpace studios are located on the second floor of the Madjax building.
Visitors are invited to learn more about PlySpace, check out the PlySpace studios, and explore the work Dave has created while in residence this summer. At 6:00 PM, the artist will discuss his work and his residency experience in an informal artist talk. Light refreshments will be served.
Dave Rowe is a sculptor, educator, and fabricator. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Sculptural Practices at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and holds a BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and an MFA from Indiana University Bloomington.

Join Erin Monroe, the Robert H. Schutz, Jr., Associate Curator of American Paintings and Sculpture at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, for a richly illustrated talk about the artist Edward Gorey and DOMA's special exhibition, "Gorey's Worlds."
A 5 p.m. reception precedes the 6 p.m. talk, and the exhibition will remain open until 8 p.m. for those who wish to enjoy an informed viewing following the lecture.

Cost: $10 (Children under 10 admitted for free if accompanied by an adult Learn more about the rich history of Muncie and Delaware County in the beautiful setting of Beech Grove Cemetery! Join local historians for a walking tour of a section of the cemetery, enjoy refreshments at the fountain and view local history displays in the chapel.
Tours leave approximately every 30 minutes and do require walking on uneven ground/steps. Parking available across Kilgore Ave. There is no rain date, so bring an umbrella if weather is not cooperative!
This is a family friendly, fun and educational event! Children under 10 are admitted free (accompanied by an adult).
This event is brought to you by the Old West End Neighborhood Association and Beech Grove Cemetery and benefits cemetery upkeep and neighborhood initiatives. Partners include the Delaware County Historical Society.
