Attendees are invited to spend their lunch time relaxing in the park with friends and family, enjoying the new park and weekly entertainment. Bring your own lunch, purchase a lunch from our on-site vendors or get lunch to go from one of our DWNTWN eateries. Some seating will be available. We will also have shady spots on the lawn for guests who would like to bring blankets or lawn chairs.
In addition to live music entertainment each week, a children’s activity will be provided.
Canan Commons is located in the 500 block of south Walnut Street near the roundabout and across the street from the YMCA and Muncie Music Center. Street parking is available and public parking lots are located throughout DWNTWN.

Balsam Range is one of the most decorated bluegrass groups of the last decade, receiving 8 nominations from the IBMA in 2017 alone, including winning the award for Album of the Year and being nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Instrumental Group of the Year, and Vocal Group of the Year.

The Campbell Brothers have received widespread recognition for their work presenting African-American Sacred Steel music, with pedal-steel guitarist Chuck Campbell receiving a National Heritage Fellowship recipient for his contributions in preserving the heritage of African-American gospel music. Flor De Toloache
All-female Mariachi band Flor De Toloache will perform in a FREE, all ages outdoor concert as part of the Muncie Three Trails Music Series. Dance troupes Anderson Ballet Folklorico and Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos will open the show with traditional Mexican dances.
Flor De Toloache are pioneers in updating Mariachi music for contemporary audiences. Their work has won acclaim in many quarters. The group's self-titled debut album was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Ranchero/Mariachi album, and their 2017 second release, Las Caras Lindas, won that award.

A Heekin Park Cultural Zone Event
Muncie Parks and Recreation hosts their third annual Art in the Park & Neighborhood Rummage in Heekin Park on Saturday, July 13th. This event features a wide variety of vendors and plenty of fun including a stage with live music, staple summer-time food, a community rummage sale, and plenty of arts demonstrations and activities for the entire family!
Muncie Arts and Culture Council is honored to count this Heekin Park festival as a "10 for 10 MACCtivity", a series of events highlighted to recognize MACC's 10th anniversary of celebrating and supporting arts & culture in Muncie!
The Muncie Parks Department is offering Free Booth Space to any and all arts or rummage sale vendors interested in participating. Tables will be provided and set-up begins at 8:00 am. Advance notice of your plans to participate is appreciated and helps the team plan for a successful event for everyone.
