GindhART at Madjax 68 ART PARTY!: “See The Good” is the theme as Debra turns 68 in September. She has a long standing ART-BIRTHDAY celebratory ritual with Downtown Muncie's First Thursday event. I work mainly in pencils and ink, and show my art in various judies shows throughout the state. I have been concentrating on extinct bird species done in pencil, at or about life-sized.

Tiny Shiners is my personal creation. I've worked for four years to build the brand. I have years of creative experience that I have molded into this small company. Everything created by me is original and made with the intention of being passed down from family member to family member.

Jill Palumbo is a multimedia artist from Muncie, Indiana. Jill works with paint, clay and glass along with recycled items to make jewelry, furniture, and artwork. Her creations reflect her belief in kindness toward people and the enjoyment of nature.

Join the Muncie Arts and Culture Council (munciearts.org) and the PlySpace Residency Program (plyspace.org) for a Projection Scavenger Hunt in Downtown Muncie on First Thursday, September 3rd. In preparation for That One Film Festival, on September 11th and 12th, PlySpace hosted filmmaker Karissa Hahn, the first virtual resident and That One Film Festival juror, for a workshop on film printing on a home-office printer. The work created during this two part workshop will be projected at multiple exterior locations in Downtown Muncie between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM on First Thursday, September 3rd. Viewers can follow the online scavenger hunt map (at www.plyspace.org/projectionhunt) to try to find all of the films! The scavenger hunt is self guided walking tour. YART is a Yard Sale for Art held on the First Thursday of every May and October! All Art under $40! All Artists handle their sales with you directly!

The pandemic has challenged everyone on Earth, and most recently, my related challenge has been as long-time Director of YART, Muncie’s Yard Sale for Art, coming up - and going fully online - on Thursday, October 1st. The Fall 2020 Muncie YART will happen! All the talented YART Artists will have their work for sale in a special Facebook group I’ve created. We are keeping that yard sale vibe going by all Art being priced under $40 and all Artists handling their own sales. The last Fall YART showcased over 150 Artists! YART is my giant twice-a-year volunteer gift to Muncie. I never charge any Artist to participate; and I have no staff and no budget. Cornerstone Center for the Arts and Muncie Artists Guild are partnering to provide the community with their Intuitive Drawing Workshop Saturday, August 22 10:15am. Embrace the drawing and painting techniques of 1920’s surrealist artist, Max Ernst. Teaching Artist Chic Elbert-Velazco will lead you through their own process of rubbing from a textured surface to form a basis for your work. The photo features textures rubbed from a studio wall and an old wood cut. All art supplies will be provided.

Join us for a workshop diving deep into the techniques of famous artists throughout history. Our teaching artist will walk you through the process of the master’s work and then you will get to create your own piece through their influence. Open to students beginner to advanced skill level.

“The ART of #MeToo”: The movement heard around the world. We’ve all heard of women coming forward with their stories of mistreatment from men. Molestation is maturity in a moment a sort of soul murder. This problem, forbidden from conversation for so many years, stems from a variety of underlying factors at play. One in five women will be raped in her lifetime. Rape culture is prevalent in all communities worldwide. Women in power in the USA and Europe had the opportunity to spread their stories and combat the stigma of a woman standing up for herself. Just a century ago, the #MeToo movement would not have been possible.Local artist Debra Gindhart’s First Thursday exhibit “The ART of #MeToo” combines assemblage art and poetry. 

Gindhart also created a new line of Green Glam Studio jewelry earrings, Royal Pussies. Hand knitted loop scarves are also featured. Meet the artist during First Thursday’s gallery walk. Second floor galleries, 5-8pm

This CAP elective explored the generative act of architecture through the lens of craft. Investigations took positions on technique, authorship, as well as translations between drawing and imaging, technology and craft, aesthetics and information- not necessarily in opposition but in dialogue.  Exhibit also includes new work from English 421 History of the Book (Instructors: Rai Peterson, Book Arts Collaborative with Kim Miller, Tribune Showprint) as well as students’ continued explorations.
