Creativity experts, Robert and Rebecca Bluestone possess the rare gift of not only being consummate artists, but they can articulate to any audience, in their own language, how creativity relates to their everyday lives and assures them success in the 21^st Century. This multi-media performance incorporates Rebecca’s tapestries installed onstage, projected visual images of the places from which they have drawn inspiration, interwoven with Robert performing on his guitar. Their ultimate goal is to share their passion and inspire audiences to own the Power of Creativity.

Children’s Health Fair!

Free Saturday! April 20^th, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

MUNCIE, Ind. – Is your child good to go, from head to toe?! Come to the Children’s Health Fair at the Muncie Children’s Museum on Saturday, April 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to find out!

This year, the Children’s Health Fair will focus on six components of health for kids: checkups, play, safety, learning, friends and helping hands. There will many agencies to help parents and children learn what it truly means to be healthy. Some of the organizations at the event last year were the YMCA, Cardinal Greenways, Head Start and Open Door…just to name a few!

The Children’s Health Fair will be held on a Free Saturday so everyone can come out and have a good time. There will be giveaways, games and door prizes, including one boy’s and one girl’s bicycle. Mark your calendars today so you don’t miss this exciting an informative event!

The Muncie Children’s Museum provides hands-on, educational and innovative learning experiences.  The Museum is located at 515 S. High St. Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 per person ages 1-100.

Join the fun for a great cause on Saturday, September 27! The theme for this year's FT5K is Under the Sea and the Fun Run is Superheros! Registration includes an awesome themed 5k tshirt. A Zumba instructor will warm up all the 5k participants before the race, and post-race snacks will be available. Stay tuned for cool prizes! The Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) is offering a free Ask the Experts Seminar to help those with retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and retinitis pigmentosa better understand these diseases and provide access to information and resources related to living with vision loss.  The seminar will address disease inheritance, other risk factors, advances in overcoming these diseases, and related topics.

Living Lightly is a FREE resource fair offering practical ways to live more sustainably, saving money and resources for ourselves and future generations. The 10th annual event features speakers, kids' activities, live music, food demonstrations, a green marketplace of vendors, and expired medication drop-off. 

The 10th annual Living Lightly Fair is a FREE, family-friendly celebration of sustainable living. Learn from speakers, check out gifts and eco-conscious products from 40+ green marketplace vendors, drop off expired medication, tour the MLK Freedom Bus, add a piece to a community bottle cap mural, test-drive a hybrid car, and much more. Kids can read to a shelter pet, sculpt a clay bat or butterfly, create an upcycled herb planter, and add a piece to a community bottle cap mural. Join us for a free community event, Moving With Muncie: A Conversation to Create Change , Saturday, 4/29, 10-1 pm, Muncie Unity Center, 515 E. 9th Street, Muncie, Indiana. This event will feature community members/partners, BSU graduate students from EDAC 698, and Facing Racism storytellers.

·        Join us in conversation to describe full inclusion and strategies to achieve it.

BSU Graduate Students in EDAC 698 Cultural Identities and Community Engagement are embarking on the annual immersive learning project. This year, they are creating a facilitator guide for community conversation, using the 2016 Facing Racism Book. The facilitator guide will be distributed to academic and community educators interested in facilitating community conversations on strategies of inclusion in all aspects of our community.

EDAC 698 Cultural Identities and Community Engagement is constructed from the community workshop curriculum developed by It Is Well With My Soul (IIWWMS) community program. It is Well With My Soul focuses on racial healing via family and cultural history research presentation, and publication.

Physician Juan Carlos Venis and Quay Kester, diversity learning consultant with IU Health Office for Diversity and Inclusion, will discuss lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) access to healthcare and health education. The seminar will conclude with an open forum for questions and discussion.
