Muncie Downtown Development Partnership and the Muncie Parks Department will host Foodie Fridays, at Canan Commons on Fridays from 11:00am-1:00pm. 

Attendees are invited to spend their lunch time relaxing in the park with friends and family, enjoying the new park and weekly entertainment. Bring your own lunch, purchase a lunch from our on-site vendors or get lunch to go from one of our DWNTWN eateries. Some seating will be available. We will also have shady spots on the lawn for guests who would like to bring blankets or lawn chairs. 

In addition to live music entertainment each week, a children’s activity will be provided.

Canan Commons is located in the 500 block of south Walnut Street near the roundabout and across the street from the YMCA and Muncie Music Center. Street parking is available and public parking lots are located throughout DWNTWN.

Symphonic Halloween will stir feelings of anticipation as classical favorites, Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique and Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, fill Emens Auditorium with spooky sounds. Maestro Droste weaves the dynamic visuals of our beloved movies with the moods and rhythms of their theme songs in this family-friendly concert. Make your own magic before the concert by taking photos with your favorite characters. Patrons are encouraged to attend dressed as their favorite movie character

Rejoice in the sounds of the season with holiday favorites and movie music from Elf and It’s a Wonderful Life. Celebrate with an afternoon filled with holiday classics with guest artists West View Elementary Children’s Choir and Ball State University Singers. Enjoy the quintessential festivity of chestnuts roasting on an open fire and hot cider, and before the concert bring the family for free activities. And don’t forget to get your family photo with Santa!

American-Folk band, Hey Mavis’, newest work is a book/CD of original songs and illustrations based on stories of the Ohio and Erie Canal. Families will be tapping their toes and delving into the heart of music and the stories of the Midwest with great symphonic accompaniment. Come early to view the beautiful artwork on display in the lobby that will enhance the concert experience

Be the first to hear all three medal winners of the 2018 10th Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, held only once every four years with competitors from around the world.

This special evening will start with a side-by-side performance with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of East Central Indiana. Listen to the accomplishments of these talented young musicians as they take the stage with a professional orchestra for a special evening.

**This is a special event that is part of a German brass quintet residency at Ball State University**

Beneficence Brass is a brass quintet that is based in Muncie, IN. The group is comprised of four undergraduate and one masters student that attend Ball State University. The instrumentation for this group is two trumpets, french horn, trombone, and tuba.

BRAWÜSSimo is similar group in personal to Beneficence Brass. This group comes to us from Würzburg, Germany. Both groups will be playing a variety of music styles!

Join The Facing Project for a Night of Tunes & Tales

Join us as Cliff Ritchey, Josh Kaufman (Winner of The Voice), and Dan Deitrich share their favorite songs and the stories behind them.

Four storytelling teams will also share stories on the night’s theme: Inspiration. Bring cash to vote for your favorite story. All proceeds support the work of The Facing Project, which creates understanding and empathy through stories that inspire action.
