Join students who manage Book Arts Collaborative for a tour of their working museum shop and the opportunity to print and bind a functional, pocket-sized notebook. Operate a 19th-century printing press, pamphlet-stitch a notebook, and finish it off in our guillotine cutter and hydraulic corner rounder. Meet our students and mutually get to know one another as you enjoy this project together.

MEET THE MAKER: Book Arts Collaborative was founded in 2015. Its mission is to preserve the apprentice-taught skills of letterpress printing and hand-sewn book binding, and to share those with the public.

Just in time for fall mums! Join us and make two cedar planters for your porch, deck, or patio using hand tools, a miter saw, and table saw. No experience is necessary for this hands-on workshop.

Create your own personalized dog accessories! Learn about technology equipment in our Design Lab while customizing a pet waste bag holder and personalized pet tag. Discover techniques to help entertain and train your dog, and stuff a KONG toy with food, with Roo’s Holistic Pet Supplies.

Work together during this four-week series to learn basic woodworking techniques and create your own custom projects to take home, including a gumball machine, birdhouse, and bread box. Participants will be using hand tools and power tools.

Adults age 55+ are invited to gather for a five-session workshop series where you will learn a variety of basic pottery techniques to create your own dinnerware set. These sessions will bring together the skills of pottery with the craft of meal making to tell stories about the meals and foods we love and have enjoyed in the past. Participants will learn basic hand-building pottery techniques including: clay preparation and treatment, basic pottery-ware construction such as bowls and cups as well as decorating techniques. The fifth and final workshop will be a potluck meal using pottery made during the workshop. Face masks are required to participate.

Mon Oct 24 and Weds Oct 26 – Learn to create engaging content like selfies or reels with special backgrounds with The Selfie Scene, located in Madjax. Then create your personal brand and put it on your own merch using equipment in the Design Lab!

Do you love board games? Join us for this fun and creative workshop where youth and adults will work together at making their own! You’ll learn what goes into making a good game, then design your own prototype using equipment in our Design Lab. Registration requires at least one youth and one adult. Families may register as a unit for up to 6 people.

Create your own personalized pet accessories! Learn about 3D and sublimation printing. Choose from a variety of pet products for dogs, cats, and more. NOTE: While pets are treasured members of our households, they don’t make for great collaborators in the Design Lab. Please leave your pets at home.

Celebrate your favorite Muncie memories and places by creating your own custom jigsaw puzzle and storage box.

Participants will create a digital collage using their own photos, images, or artwork and will use the sublimation printer to print and press your own 48-piece jigsaw puzzle and accompanying storage box.
