Veterans Day Honor Program with America's Hometown Band

The City of Muncie and America’s Hometown Band invite all local citizens to a Veterans Day Celebration event -- ONE MUNCIE FOR VETERANS -- on Tuesday, Nov 11, in the Muncie Central High School auditorium. The musical portions of this event are performed by Muncie’s own America’s Hometown Band combined “side-by-side” with high school band students from Delaware County.
The evening begins at 5:30 pm in the MCHS cafeteria with a complimentary spaghetti dinner for any veteran. All others are encouraged to make a donation for their meal, with funds going to support local veteran activities.
At 7 pm, the Veterans Day honor program proceeds with patriotic music, the presentation of colors, and comments by Delaware County Veterans Officer Janet Davis; local veteran Joseph Orick; Muncie’s Mayor Dennis Tyler; Rev. Colby Smith; and Michael Austin from Muncie Central High School. Emcee for the evening is Dale Basham. Sponsors for this program are City of Muncie, Muncie Exchange Club, Ball State University, and Muncie Central High School.

Xylophonist David Robbins performs Irish Washerwoman. And from 8 pm on, jazz keyboardist Phil Cooley, a co-director of the AHB, closes out the evening’s musical fare.

Beech Grove Cemetery again hosts the annual Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony to honor all past and present American service personnel. All music for the ceremony, including Taps, is performed live by America's Hometown Band.
The public is invited to attend the 11 AM ceremony and take a few moments to remember and appreciate the services and lives committed to keeping America free since the birth of the nation, both locally and nationally.
Cemetery officials, plus Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler and local military organization representatives, are to be the speakers in the program.

Muncie area families are invited to get out and enjoy a FREE celebration concert of the band's 29th anniversary. This lively musical outing ranges from an energetic full-band arrangement of Scarborough Fair - to an amazing xylophone duet called Xylophonia featuring two local area High School Music Directors - to the timeless appeal of Gershwin tunes from the American opera Porgy & Bess.

AMERICA'S HOMETOWN BAND HELPS SALUTE VETERANS AT BEECH GROVE CEMETERY PROGRAM
The free annual Memorial Day remembrance and honor program for Muncie and Delaware County military personnel takes place in the Military Section of Beech Grove Cemetery, 1400 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie on Monday, May 29, 11 am. The AHB band performs a patriotic musical prelude starting at 10:45 am, as well as a musical salute to each branch of the service during the program. A stirring AHB rendition of Taps closes the ceremonies.
The Memorial Day program is coordinated by Beech Grove Cemetery officials and features speakers from the City of Muncie and the Delaware County Veterans organization. A color guard presentation and rifle salute are scheduled, plus a special acknowledgment of local veterans who have died since last year’s gathering.
