200 Past Events at Muncie Civic Theatre

Muncie Open Screen is a monthly showcase for local filmmakers at the Muncie Civic Theatre. It operates similarly to an ‘Open Mic Night’ for singers or comedians— local filmmakers can bring their short films, music videos, commercials, home movies, or whatever else they have in a video format and see it played on the big screen.

There is no cost to submit, but there will be an optional, suggested donation at the door. All donations go directly to the Muncie Civic Theater.

Each screening is all ages and open to the public.

All in attendance will receive a copy of the Facing Disabilities book to be autographed by Hillcroft's featured clients. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Glam rock goddess Hedwig returns for one night only with her band the Angry Inch for an encore to benefit Muncie Civic Theatre."Hedwig and the Angry Inch" is a rock musical about a fictional rock and roll band fronted by an East German transgender singer. The music is steeped in the androgynous 1970s glam rock style of David Bowie (who co-produced the Los Angeles production of the show), as well as the work of John Lennon and early punk performers Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. Tickets are $10, General Admission seating.

Equal parts rock concert and comedy show, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is guaranteed to thoroughly entertain while also tackling the universal struggle for love and acceptance.

"Starting in 1992 I partnered with my wife, Vicki, and a group of dedicated artists, actors and musicians to create a performance space that would help revive Muncie's downtown, which at that time was full of abandoned buildings. In October 2012, I sold the building to the saloon next door. In the end, "Doc's" (as most people came to know it) offered a steady stream of enthusiastic visitors a meeting place for their love of the arts, for community activism, and for experiencing the unifying force of live musical performance." - Doc Peterson

This documentary film is being created to resurrect the hard work and dedication of those who made it last more than 20 years, starting at 7:00pm in the mainstage theatre. Tickets are $5 at the door, General Admission seating.

Set deep within the mysterious Tombigbee Swamp, Wiley and the Hairy Man centers around a young fatherless boy, his conjuring mother, his faithful dog, and the Hairy Man who haunts Wiley's days and dreams. Through rhythm and rhyme, a chorus creates the mystery of the swamp. The magic of this play is not fairy dust, it is soil—the magic of survival, the magic of the earth and the mud of the swamp. In an exciting duel of wits, Wiley learns to rely upon his own resources and conquers two villains: the Hairy Man and his own fear.

Muncie Civic Theatre and Stage 2 Productions are proud to present the STAR FOLLIES, An Evening of Sondheim, on Friday, April 3rd at 11pm. Join us for a fantastic and light hearted evening celebrating the fantastic works of composer, Stephen Sondheim, and his works on the great stage. Featuring an all star cast, singing show stopping numbers, this night of entertainment is sure to wow!

Join us for the Facing Depression in East Central Indiana Monologues and Book Launch. Admission is FREE, and attendees will receive a copy of the book (donations are welcomed). The night will include theatrical readings from the book as well as a showing of a short documentary about how this project was put together.

Facing Depression in East Central Indiana is an affiliate of The Facing Project, a national organization that connects people through stories to strengthen communities. Founded in Muncie, Indiana, in 2012, The Facing Project has led three other projects in Muncie that debuted at Muncie Civic Theatre: Facing Poverty in Delaware County (2012), Facing Autism in Muncie (2013), and Facing Disabilities in East Central Indiana (2014).
