Zoogma, Eumatik, & Magnetic
9:00pm to 3:00am @
Center Stage
306 South Walnut Street Muncie, Indiana 47305
Cost: $10 Ages: 21+
An amazing night! This trio of the midwest hottest electronically infused bands to Muncie, IN!
ZOOGMA combines the sonic diversity and precision of a DJ with the excitement and immediacy of a four piece rock group. Known for their energetic performances and retina pleasing light show, the band consistently dishes out heavy-weight beat-driven dance parties across the nation. Sets are kinetic, combining live improvisation with carefully crafted beats and melodic textures.
With the release of their debut album, Recreational Vehicles, along with a relentless tour schedule, the four members have already added their unique voice to the live electronic-rock scene. Evolving in Oxford, MS, Zoogma’s sound can be described as an eclectic fusion of Electronica, Rock, and Hip-Hop. This blend of genres results in a musical experience that appeals to a range of audiences, with a sound that is refreshingly original yet steeped in the dance music tradition.
EUMATIK is a living, trance-inducing, funk-blasting, dance mechanism that stimulates the mind by being harmonically innovative and experimental. What makes their approach to music so interesting is their ability to allure the listener with catchy hooks, slowly leading them outside their accustomed electronic musical boundaries Fusing a diverse variety of musical techniques that ranging from jazz theory to 18th century counterpoint, lengthy sections of improvisation make every live show unique. Eumatik brings elements of hip hop, funk, trance, jazz, dubstep and disco and mixes them with a mix of vintage keyboards and ultra-modern sound design
As you hear the UFO sounds summoning up a twist-bopping, trance-inducing, disco-fever you know it's time for Eumatik.
MAGNETIC is rich with stereo soundscapes, bumping grooves, tight bass and sweet synthesizers. Deeply composed and highly versatile, tempos move through Dubstep, Glitch-Hop, Breakbeat and Electro House. From carefree to complex these orchestrated tracks give way to live improvisation.

Digeometric is a concept idea that bloomed in June of 2010. The formation of this group happened both spontaneously and sporadically. The music being created by Digeometric occurs in the same manner.

Glowfriends/Kalamazoo, MI/Kalamashoegazer
"ALL THINGS MADE NEW-(JAM) Glowfriends, a shoegazing 6-piece from Kalamazoo, Michigan have released their 6th record. They might be the only band in history that is comprised of 3 couples. The core of the band is siblings April and Mark Morris. Mark’s wife Holly plays bass/vibes while April’s husband, Adam Zimont, plays guitar and that leaves the excellently-named JW and Jenn Hendrix on drums and vibes/glockenspiel respectively. The thing about their records, and I’ve heard (and enjoyed) all of them, is that each new one has been a little better than the one before it. After all, that’s what most bands are trying to do, right? On ALL THINGS MADE NEW this dream pop outfit has raised the bar and written their best batch of songs yet. The vocals between main vocalist April Zimont and her brother, Mark Morris are as confident as they are compelling and the swirling, 2-guitar lineup adds to the proceedings. A few of my favorite tunes on this record are the smooth opener “Wait for the Waves”, the haunting/driving “Explain Away”, the fuzzy “Jr. Mint”, the jangly “Through the Heart” and at least a few others. -DAGGER MAGAZINE

Ifdakar/Fox Valley, WI/Jamtronica
Ifdakar jam their way through a unique blend of funk, jazz, electronica, reggae, and rock music.
Ifdakar's pursuit of musical growth and experimental improvisation create an experience not to be forgotten. Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, this five piece band has garnered recognition for their live performances, where the band channels elements of psychedelic rock, funk, jazz, and electronica. The result is a mind bending, dance infused, pedal to the metal sound that it is unmistakably their
own.
From songs that are tragic, to songs that transcend, Ifdakar showcases an array of improvisational jamming and elaborately structured pieces that are steeped in influences such as Phish, Pink Floyd, Les Claypool, Lotus, STS9 and many others. This spectrum allows for dense musical freedom, to tension-and-release madness.
While relentlessly working on every aspect of the band, Ifdakar has been fortunate enough to open for such scene luminaries as Ozric Tentacles, EOTO, Xavier Rudd, Kim Manning of Parliament Funkadelic, Willie Waldman, Steve Molitz of Particle and more.
As Ifdakar continues to climb the ranks of the Midwest scene, their popularity has started to snowball. Reaching capacity at marquee club shows regularly, the band has begun to make the jump to theaters, picking up numerous new fans along the way.

Funktion "Kalamazoo, MI Funk"
8:00pm to 3:00am @
Center Stage
306 South Walnut Street Muncie, Indiana 47305
Cost: $5 Ages: 21+ Funk is an amorphous substance, able to mold itself to a variety of emotions and environments. It consists of all the things we know and composes all the things we feel. It’s the stuff that jiggles in our spine, the thing that rumbles in our belly. It’s the stuff crammed between our toes and the matter jammed between our ears. Funk lives in all of us—its path traces the globe and its roots dig back to traditional campfire rhythms and primal soul vibrations. If you’ve experienced life at all until this point
, you’ve come across at least one mutation of the entity of funk.
Luckily for us there is a band that can show us all the branches of funk. No matter what frequency your eardrums vibrate at, the sonic eruption from Kalamazoo based Funktion will dose them at the right waves per second. It could be the silky smooth R&B that gets you. Or maybe it’s the cool island dub rhythms that grab your ears. Then again it might be the rowdy hip-hop flavor that seizes your attention. But if none of that snatches your marbles, the unhinged, guitar-fueled fireball of funk will surely do the trick. Any way you slice it, if you’ve got a pair of ears, Funktion will unwrap something for them to chew on.
But don’t show up to a live show unless you’ve come to get down; this stuff is additive-free, high-octane dance fuel. And due to the fact that Funktion’s sole mission in life is to make you shake your booty, trying to stand still might cause you a few problems. You see, the human body simply isn’t equipped to deal with this much raw musical energy in the stationary position. The only way to withstand this tidal wave of sound is to get loose, get down with your bad self, and feel that groove out on the floor. Ride that funky wave out, because the only thing that could bring it to an end is last call. But then there’s always the next night’s last call in another city just down the road…

"A Dope Halloween" w/ Dopapod & Magnetic
8:00pm to 3:00am @
Center Stage
306 South Walnut Street Muncie, Indiana 47305
Cost: $5 Ages: 21+ Dopapod exists at the crossroads of full throttle intensity, deep pocket groove, intricate technicality, and limitless experimentation. With no regard towards limiting themselves to stylistic boundaries, the sound that emerges from the quartet both live and in the studio is as varied and diverse as the many influences that they adapt from. Their approach and commitment to complementing a distinct genre bending sound to top-notch musicianship has set them apart from many of their contemporaries and keeps mus
ic lovers eagerly returning to shows.
In the past two years, Dopapod has firmly planted seeds in music fan’s ears all up and down the East Coast and into the Midwest with their incessant touring schedule. Covering all this ground has seen the young, yet seasoned group make appearances at numerous festivals including Camp Bisco, Mountain Jam, Bonnaroo, Burning Man, Bear Creek, The Big Up, Rootwire, Strangecreek, and more. Their electric live showcase has been cultivating a fast growing, loyal fan base, and seen them share bills with artists such as Lotus, EOTO, Papadosio, Zach Deputy, Brothers Past, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, Spam Allstars, Sam Kininger (Lettuce, Soulive), and Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake, & Palmer).
Dopapod’s latest release, I Saw Live Dopapod, Evil Was I, is a candid representation of choice cuts from the first half of 2011. Recorded and mixed from multi track recordings, the album showcases the band at their very finest. From explosive disco jazz funk tracks like ‘Indian Grits’ and ‘Off the Cuff’ to wompy progstep rockers such as ‘French Bowling’ and ‘Freight Train’, the quartet’s compositional and improvisational splendor has been captured and put on display to offer a peak into the brainwork of their entrancing live experience. The crown jewel of the collection might be “Dazed and Confused” – an arrangement that shows the group’s simultaneous mastery at both synth-bass womp drops and guitar scorched classic rock wailing. Each track was carefully select, mixed, and mastered to showcase the full Dopapod gamut: new and old, premeditated and spontaneous, light and dark.
While the distant future reads plots for world domination, the near future will see Dopapod continuing to develop their craft both on the road and in the studio. With a heavy touring regimen in place to continue scouring the country, Drawn Onward, the second studio release, will be dropping at the blink of an eye, offering fresh takes on live favorites. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the sonic whirlwind that will be coming to venues and stereos near you!

"Impressions" a Print Show by The Glue & Scissors Society
12:00pm to 12:42pm @
The Cup
Mark making: perhaps the power in this art form is not its singularity but rather, its ability to be duplicated. Creating an impression is like skipping a stone. Each touch, no matter how light, creates a series of ripples. When replication is simple, distribution is simple. From there, the ripples arc out, casting over territory too large for one person, for one idea. Thus they shift, mature, spur creativity in others.
A single impression.
The softest breath over water.
These have the power to enact motion—to push ideas like paper boats farther than our own visible horizons.
The show will feature live music both at The Cup and Be Here Now
Though, all artwork will hang at The Cup.

YART - A Yard Sale for Art!
5:00pm to 12:42pm @
Downtown
Old National Lot
The Spring 2014 Muncie YART will be held on Thursday, May 1st (5-9pm) and is open and free to everyone! :)
YART is a Yard Sale for Art. We keep the yard sale vibe going by having the sale outdoors and keeping all art priced under $40. I hold YART twice a year, in May and October, in Downtown Muncie, in the parking lot of Old National Financial on the corner of Walnut and Charles Streets.
There is no charge to sell at YART, and YART does not take a cut of your sales. Each artist has about a parking space to set up in. Artists manage their own sales and set up their own displays. It's often very windy, so keep that in mind. Many artists make art live during YART!
YART is an all-volunteer/no-budget event and I am very grateful to Cheryl Crowder of the Muncie Downtown Development Partnership for support and the donation of YART poster printing, Old National Financial for the donated use of their parking lot, and to The Artist Within, Inc. for being great YART neighbors!
The 2014 Spring Muncie YART will be held at the same time as the May 2014 First Thursday Gallery Walk throughout Downtown Muncie. There is a LOT going on with art shows, live music, food, and community fellowship. The Caffeinery has just opened across the street from the YART lot too. This will be a really fun night for everyone and it's great to support local artists!
Please "Share" this and encourage artists to sell at YART and buyers to shop at YART! :)
