The various activities create space for learning, active family participation, and fun! Spend a beautiful spring day at Minnetrista.

The event will have three two-hour sessions. Pre-registration is highly encouraged.

Explore our solar system and learn about planets with family-friendly activities. Muncie Children’s Museum will help future astronauts prepare for the eclipse by making solar viewing crowns, offering space-themed sensory bins, and more. Local author and illustrator Laurie Lunsford will read her book The Solar Eclipse is Coming. Solar System Ambassador Sarah Vise will share her expertise with curious learners, and visitors can also attend a performance of the world premiere of A Golden Curve of Light, an eclipse-themed one-act play written by award-winning playwright, Jennifer Blackmer.

Join student teachers from the Ball State Art Education program for an afternoon of games, activities, and tours in the DOMA galleries - plus (weather permitting) creating sunprints on the Quad as a pre-solar eclipse activity! Join Minnetrista in appreciating the beauty of the heavens! Afternoon activities facilitated by Minnetrista and Muncie Children’s Museum staff will include coloring sun catchers, making solar viewing crowns, and exploring sensory bins. That evening, the stars align as Minnetrista and Orchestra Indiana present Eclipsed: A Magical Night of Music. With the sky as our backdrop, visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and picnic blankets to revel in celestial-themed musical selections. Local arts partners and food trucks will be on hand to enhance your experience and round out the evening.

Enjoy Minnetrista’s expansive lawns—all are welcome to one of the best places in town to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event! Celebrate the science of solar eclipses with demonstrations and activities meant to educate. As April unfolds, ushering in Earth Day and Arbor Day, the cabin is embracing the green theme of the month with a take-home planting activity to learn about pollination. Select a wildflower bingo card and explore Oakhurst Gardens and the Nature Area. Don’t worry, we will have wildflower identification cards to help too! The fun does not end there: forest connectagons, leaf rubbing supplies, and plant ID books will also be available for an immersive and educational experience.

Get ready to experience an amazing journey in the crazy world of Wonderland! Based on the classic by Lewis Carroll, “Alice” is an action-packed theatrical circus full of surprises, amazing acts, video projection with 3-D mapping and live music. Alice’s adventures are a manifesto to fantasy and free spirit, as well as a profound philosophy towards respecting all opinions, including those that may be different from your own.

Imagine the March Hare balancing on a tower of chairs during a tea party or The Mad Hatter playing crazy instruments or Alice performing acrobatics inside a giant keyhole!

“Dreaming of Wonderland” features an international cast of veteran performers from across Europe and North America, including acrobats, a 4-member hand-to-hand balancing act, a one-man band, and a new art form creating original creations with smoke and bubbles.

So follow the White Rabbit, pass through the keyhole and join us at the Tea Party, remember that you don’t need to look for meaning, after all…”we’re all mad here!” Get your tickets today!

From 1pm to 5pm on both days, visitors can enjoy the arrangements, docent-led tours, music, and activities for all ages. An evening reception from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday, May 18, will offer jazz, hors d'oeuvres, and a cash (only) bar.

There is no admission fee for this event, and weekend parking on the Quad Circle is also free.
