Petty Memorial Lecture: "Sparks of Genius - Connecting Art and Science"

Recital Hall
Creativity expert Dr. Robert Root-Bernstein, Professor of Physiology at Michigan State University, and MacArthur Fellow, will present a provocative lecture based on his book Sparks of Genius: The Thirteen Thinking Tools of the World's Most Creative People. The lecture will discuss how scientists and others benefit from their participation in and engagement with the arts. Read more here.
- Lecture is FREE and open to the public. A book signing will follow the program.

Cost: For BSU Students the price is $30 For community participants it is $35 Wayland's Fun Run is $12 The FT5K is a 3.1 mile course throughout Ball State University’s beautiful campus. During this event, those who participate get the chance to be apart of a philanthropic run, but, also, spend time with children and their families, who have been impacted by Riley Hospital for Children. After the run, feel free to stay after to watch the adorable Wayland’s Fun Run, made specifically for children under the age of 8! This exciting event gives you the chance to get a good workout, see Ball State’s campus and to see the impact Ball State University Dance Marathon has on Riley Hospital for Children and Children’s Miracle Network.

Ball State University Dance Marathon’s third annual Night of Hope is a candlelight vigil hosted on Ball State University’s beautiful Quad in front of the David Owsley Museum of Art. During this event, participants will join BSUDM, BSU faculty and students, and Muncie community members in honoring and remembering the children and families impacted by Riley Hospital for Children. This solemn event allows participants to join BSUDM in celebrating hope and healing by listening to several of our Riley Families share their stories.

In addition to the innovative arrangements, visitors can also enjoy extended museum hours of noon to 5pm on both days with live demonstrations, docent-led tours, music, and activities for all ages. There is no admission fee for this event, and weekend parking on the Quad Circle is also free.

"My Painted Nails" by Teddy Lepley, 2021, woodcut, 19" X 24"
Join us for a panel discussion at the David Owsley Museum of Art featuring David and Sarojini Johnson in conversation with friends from the world of printmaking. This event is related to the special exhibition A Wild Story: The David and Sarojini Johnson Print Collection, on view now through May 21. The panelists - including Teddy Lepley, Colleen McKenna, and Nathaniel Russell - will share perspectives on their own practice, printmaking, and the exhibition.
The museum will be open to the public for a 5:00 p.m. reception for visitors who wish to view the related exhibition prior to the 6:00 p.m. panel discussion. This event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
