The program includes Dvorak's Carnival Overture, Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, and Respighi's Pines of Rome. Known internationally for presenting work of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty, MOMIX is a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of Moses Pendleton. For 20 years, MOMIX has been celebrated for its ability to conjure up a world of surrealistic images using props, light, shadow, humor and the human body.

In addition to stage performances world-wide, the company has frequently worked on special projects and film and television. MOMIX has made five Italian RAI television features broadcast to 55 countries (including the USSR and China) and has performed on Antenne II in France. MOMIX was also featured in PBS's "Dance in America" series. The company participated in the "Homage a Picasso" in Paris and was selected to represent the US at the European Cultural Center at Delphi. MOMIX dancers Cynthia Quinn and Karl Baumann played the role of "Bluey" in the film "FX II", under the direction of Moses Pendleton.

Join Muncie Symphony Orchestra and Masterworks Chorale for a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah day filled with music and song! From 12 to 2 p.m.  take your turn trying out different instruments in MSO’s instrument petting zoo,if you can play an instrument you are invited to show off your talent at the song of choice station, visit the brass ensemble to learn the language of music notes, check out the pitch pit and challenge your voice to a matching contest with Masterworks Chorale and step on stage to see how costumes tell a story.  At 2 p.m. the MSO ensemble and Masterworks Chorale will put on a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah performance with help from the audience.

It’s been a long and dusty road since 1922 when, at a dig in the desert south of Tunis, Professor Nigel Quentin Fontenelle Dumblucke IV (1895-1973) unearthed the ruins of an ancient discotheque to find a dozen undead Egyptian mummies inexplicably throwing down what he dubbed, "Terrifying Funk From Beyond the Grave.” These mummies will amaze audiences with a funk concert unlike anything you have seen before.

From these hovering souls, who called themselves Here Come The Mummies, Professor Dumblucke learned of the powerful curse that doomed them to wander the earth, seeking the ultimate riff, the one that may allow their spirits to rest after eons of, as they put it, "banging out solid fly grooves, y'all." This so-called curse may have been retribution for the deflowering of a great Pharaoh's daughter, but the story has become somewhat murky over the centuries.

What is clear is that these saucy spectors resurfaced around the turn of the Millennium. Without so much as a hot bath, HCTM would open for P-Funk and Al Green, rock Super Bowl Village 2012, become regulars at The Bob and Tom Show and massive festivals like Summerfest, and make themselves the darlings of sell-out crowds over wide swaths of North America. Maybe that's why the ladies (and some dudes) can't stop losing their minds over these mayhem-inducing mavens of mirth.

Celebrate the arts in Downtown Muncie from 5pm to 9pm on first Thursday in October! Muncie Symphony Orchestra is taking stage at Canan Commons for a free outdoor concert at 5:30pm, Douglas Droste, conductor.

Bring the whole family, share a picnic, dance on the lawn, gaze at the clouds (no rain please!); sip a refreshing, favorite beverage.  It’s all about celebrating the arts and enjoying last warm days in the fall, before moving indoors for the winter.

The MSO will also have an activity booth with instrument petting zoo as one of the Arts Walk vendors. Stop by with your children!

Bob Knight is among the youngest head coaches to have won 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, and 800 career games. He is the only coach to have reached 900 wins. When he was 62-years-old, Coach Knight became the youngest of the four coaches ever to reach the milestone of 800 victories.

Coach Bob Knight earned his 800th career win at Texas Tech on January 1, 2007 with a Red Raider win over New Mexico (70-68). Coach Bob Knight completed his coaching career at Texas Tech on February 2, 2008...a 67-60 win (#902) over Oklahoma State University at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas.

During his six seasons at Army, his 29 years at Indiana University, and his six and a half seasons at the helm of the Texas Tech Red Raider program, he has experienced nothing short of excellence! There are the wins, the conference titles, the national championships, and the exemplary graduation rate and player success after basketball. Most telling, there is the bond that exists between Coach Knight and those who have played for him.

Sierra Hull is the first bluegrass musician to receive a Presidential Scholarship to the Berklee College of Music. Signing with Rounder Records at the age of 13, Sierra has always had a passion for her music. In the past three years, she has received five International Bluegrass Music Association nominations.

Garrison Keillor was born in 1942 in Anoka, Minnesota, and began his radio career at the University of Minnesota, from which he graduated in 1966. On July 6, 1974, he hosted the first broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion in St. Paul. Today, some 4 million listeners on more than 600 public radio stations tune in to the show each week.
